I have actually rendered my own beef lard and pork lard. It was a big learning experience! This was before I had surgery and I have yet to do it again because not only did I get about 50 pounds of rendered lard, but also I have not had the energy to try again. I have enjoyed using it for baking and cooking and it is much cheaper than butter or Crisco (yuck!). I was originally going to use it to make soap and candles and then sell them, but then we found out about my tumor and I put all plans on hold. We will be moving in just a few weeks so I am planning to start my little business up after that and try rendering more lard then. This article is great and exactly how I did it. Reformation Acres is a great homesteading website! Click HERE to go to the article.
Good memories reading this article on rendering white lard. Nothing like making it after the pig was butchered and oh the homemade donuts! Thank you for sharing with the Clever Chicks Blog Hop! I hope you’ll join us again next week!
