Tommy Nelson Book Review and Giveaway!

For me as a mom it is often difficult to find really good chapter books for my children that are not based on witch craft or demons.  That seems to be the theme for kids books these days.  We have already exhausted many of the old classics like Anne Of Green Gables or My Side of The Mountain.  And since my children love to read I am always on the lookout for new books that are not only entertaining, but have a good moral as well.

When Tommy Nelson offered to let me become a reviewer of their books I was very excited.  My love of books made this a fun opportunity!  They sent me the book Dream Treaders which is for children ages 7 to 12.

Book #1 in a trilogy from fantasy author Wayne Thomas Batson explores the concept of dreams and their effects on us.

People are fascinated by dreams, and the Bible has a great deal to say about them. From Jacob’s dream of the heavenly stairway in Genesis 28 to angels visiting Joseph during dreams in Matthew 1 to the Apostle John’s “waking dream” from which he obtained the book of Revelation—dreams have been powerful ingredients of God’s plan as revealed through Scripture.

Fourteen-year-old Archer Keaton discovers he has the ability to enter and explore his dreams. He is a dreamtreader, one of three selected from each generation. Their mission: to protect the waking world from the Nightmare Lord, who wreaks chaos in the Dream World. But as Archer’s dreams become more dangerous and threatening, so too does his waking life.

My 11 year old son absolutely loved this book.  He literally couldn't put it down and has read it several times.  When I told him the next book in the series was about to be released he was thrilled.  It's awesome when you child gets that excited about a good book!  My 9 year old daughter also read this and liked it allot.  I foresee getting every book in this series.  If you are looking for a great fantasy/adventure book that really appeals to both boys and girls this one is for you.  Our book is now sadly dog eared, which is an indication of a truly loved book.
