My eldeste daughter and I loved listening to Jingle Bells with Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters. So when I found a CD by the Andrews Sisters I had to get it. We both love listening to it when we are cooking or cleaning.
Excellent! I don't remember them personally (born in 1955) but I have always seen them in movies and heard their music. I think the WWII style is just what we need right now. I am fearful that this country can no longer pull together towards a common cause because we no longer have a common cause. Of course, I now know too many things about what has gone on behind the scenes in the past (secret deals, unnecessary wars just to benefit a chosen few, etc.) to worry too much now about what is happening to us. This economic mess is all by design and God already knows about it. In fact, the book of Revelation is now reading like the newspaper. Sorry for the rant.
Tell me, did you ever see the British documentary called 1940's House? It is fabulous and I recommend that every person alive now watch it. You can get it from your local library.
I also recommend Kate Smith's "God Bless America" to help people remember their national pride: (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09Gj7mJbPPc&feature=fvst). My grandmother used to sing with Kate Smith on her radio show in the 40's.
